About Elizabeth
I'm equal parts left and right brain.
I like design, books, sarcasm, big cities, and small towns.

Designer’s Statement

Raised by a family of educators in rural Ohio, I developed a strong sense of community that forms the core of who I am today. My masters thesis, board positions with the IIDA & AIGA, involvement with Design Ignites Change, and efforts as both a tutor and graduate liaison have all strengthened my desire to use design as means to strengthen community and shape behaviors.

Why Do, my graduate portfolio, is a reflection of my analytical approach to design and curious disposition. Each of the projects featured in Why Do, as well as the countless others completed over my professional and academic career, began with questioning the world around me, and wondering what I, as a designer, could do to change it for the better.

While each project begins with a single question, it ends with hundreds more. I do not believe design is an end, but rather a starting point. Through my designs I strive to create not artifacts, but experiences. These experiences are self sustaining, thought provoking, and encourage users to give the design a life of its own, one which extends far past the moment it leaves my hands.

I am currently available for professional opportunities as well as collaborations. Please contact me at: vereker@gmail.com or by phone at 513.255.3075.

Thanks for stopping by!
